Steven (Steve) Kerr

Steve’s career has encompassed working at the Scottish Office, Scottish Government, New Zealand Government (consultant) Chief of Staff Westminster, and currently the UK Government in the Department of Business and Trade (DBT). Within DBT Steve is Head of Healthcare; Life Sciences and the Bioeconomy and Leads on all Sectors engagement in North America. Specific life and work experience in the US includes –
-Lived for part of childhood in NY and Dallas his father worked on UK Defence contracts for Ferranti.
-As part of a Constitutional Commission, worked in the offices of Mayor Richard M. Daly, Chicago (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... ) and Mayor John Norquist, Milwaukee – (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... ) and travelled extensively in Wisconsin.
-Member of the Scottish Affairs Office, BE, Washington DC (https://www.gov.scot/publicati... ) delivering Tartan Day/Scotland Week Ministerial program for 7 years. Subsequently seconded to Scottish Development International, Boston MA (https://www.sdi.co.uk/about-us... ) to cover the Life Sciences Sector.
-US State Department Alumnus – International Visitors Leadership Program (https://exchanges.state.gov/no... ) – Young European Leaders Program.
-Supported New Zealand Government in 5 Eyes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... ) which involved contact with the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland/Chargé d'affaires.
-Provided bureau service for public affairs business based in Washington DC.
In addition, currently –
-Scottish North American Business Council (SNABC) Board member.
-Represent DBT on Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on USA.
He lives with his partner in Corstorphine, Edinburgh and has two daughters (and two granddaughters).
